## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

THE MIDWAY AIRPORT ATIS INFORMATION BRAVO 1951Z WIND 210 AT 10 GUST 18, VISIBILITY 5, MIST, 1,400 SCATTERED, 2000 OVERCAST, TEMPERATURE 16 DEGREES CELSIUS, DEWPOINT 14 DEGREES CELSIUS, ALTIMETER 29.67. THE LOCAL CONTROL REPORTED THE RUNWAY AS "WET". THE CREW RECEIVED A PILOT REPORT "TO EXPECT +/-10 KNOTS ON SHORT FINAL". THE PILOT FLYING, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ PLANNED AND BRIEFED A 135 KNOT APPROACH SPEED AND A 125 KNOT TOUCH DOWN SPEED DUE TO THE PILOT REPORT. THE CAPTAIN STATED THAT A "WIND EVENT" CAUSED A "DIRECTIONAL CONTROL ISSUE" THAT SENT THE AIRCRAFT FROM THE CENTERLINE OF 31C TOWARD THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY. HE THEN INITIATED DIRECTIONAL CONTROL RECOVERY TECHNIQUES, HOWEVER, WAS UNABLE TO REGAIN DIRECTIONAL CONTROL THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED THE RUNWAY SURFACE AND CAME TO A STOP IN THE GRASSY AREA BEYOND TAXIWAY ALPHA AND PRIOR TO TAXIWAY WHISKEY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO CREW OR THE SINGLE PASSENGER. DAMAGE TO AIRCRAFT IS BEING REPORTED TO INCLUDE A PROP BLADE ON THE LEFT ENGINE AND THE LEFT TIRE HAS A CUT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
