## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING INITIAL SOLO FLIGHT, STUDENT PIOT EXPERIENCED A GUSTY CROSSWIND/TAILWIND COMBINATION THAT WAS NOT PROPERLY CORRECTED FOR DURING THE LANDING AND ROLLOUT PHASE.. THE STUDENT PILOT UNDERESTIMATED THE EFFECT OF THE CROSSWIND AND ALLOWED THE AIRCRAFT TO TOUCH DOWN IN A CRAB RESULTING IN A SIDELOAD ON THE GEAR AND YAWING THAT WAS NOT CORRECTED FOR IN A TIMELY MANNER. THE STUDENT PILOT THEN OVER CONTROLLED THE RUDDER APPLICATION ATTEMPTING TO COUNTERACT THE YAW AND ALLOWED THE AIRCRAFT TO DEPART THE RUNWAY.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
