## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT OF THE HUGHES 269C WAS ATTEMPTING TO LAND ON A HOMEMADE TRAILER, WITH HIGH WINDS, RAIN AND FOGGY CANOPY. THE PILOT HAD TROUBLE CONTROLLING THE HELICOPTER IN THE WIND. THE LEFT SKIND GOT CAUGHT UNDER THE TRAILER, CAUSING THE HELICOPTER TO ROLL OVER ONTO ITS SIDE AND THE MAIN ROTOR BLADES HITTING THE GROUND AND A PARKED TRUCK.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN09LA202](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN09LA202), Mar 11, 2009: Hughes 269C (N64731), El Indio, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain control of the helicopter while attempting to land on a transport trailer in heavy rain and gusting winds.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
