## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING PUSHBACK OF ASA FLIGHT 5465 FROM GATE ONE AT STEWART AIRPORT, NY (KSWF), THE NORTHWEST AIRLINES PUSHBACK DRIVER TURNED THE AIRCRAFT TOO SOON AND WAS UNABLE TO SEE THE WING WALKER ON THE LEFT WING WHO WAS SIGNALING A STOP TO AVOID A COLLISION WITH A FUEL TRUCK THAT WAS PROPERLY PARKED AT GATE TWO. THE LEFT WINGLET OF THE AIRCRAFT SCRAPED THE FUEL TRUCK. THE AIRCRAFT WAS PULLED BACK TO THE GATE AND DEPLANED WHILE ATLANTIC AVIATION MAINTENANCE EVALUATED THE DAMAGE. THE DAMAGE WAS FOUND TO BE COSMETIC ONLY AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE BY THE ATLANTIC AVIATION MECHANIC.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
