## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) STUDENT PILOT LOST CONTROL OF AIRCRAFT DURING INITIAL SOLO FLIGHT LANDING, 2ND LANDING OF THE SOLO FLIGHT. DURING THE SECOND LANDING THE AIRCRAFT BALLOONED UP AWAY FROM THE RUNWAY DURING THE LANDING FLARE. THE STUDENT'S REACTION WAS TO APPLY FORWARD PRESSURE ON THE YOKE, ABRUPTLY RETURNING THE AIRCRAFT TO THE RUNWAY, UPON WHICH THE AIRCRAFT "PORPOISED" (BOUNCED) TWICE BEFORE SUBSEQUENTLY COLLAPSING THE NOSE GEAR ON THE THIRD LANDING, RESULTING IN AN ACCIDENT (DAMAGE TO FIREWALL). WEATHER WAS CLEAR, WINDS WERE CALM AT THE TIME OF THE STUDENT SOLO FLIGHT. AIR AGENCY HAS INSTITUTED ADDITIONAL MEASURES DESIGNED TO SAFEGUARD THE SOLO FLIGHT PROGRAM, AS NOTED BELOW.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR09CA172](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR09CA172), Mar 19, 2009: Cessna 152 (N95429), Ellensburg, WA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot's improper flare and improper recovery from a bounced landing.

## Other reports on N95429 (1)

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
