## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT STATED THAT HE DEPARTED SUMMIT AIRPORT (KEVY), MIDDLETOWN, DE, WITHOUT A WEATHER REPORT AND WAS PRACTICING LANDINGS AT K33N. HE HAD MADE ONE LANDING ON RUNWAY 27, BUT IT WAS GUSTY AND DID NOT LIKE IT SO HE DECIDED TO MAKE ANOTHER LANDING ON THE SAME RUNWAY. AS HE WAS ABOUT TO LAND, HE GOT A GUST FROM A CROSS WIND, LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT AND CRASHED INTO TWO PARKED AIRCRAFT, WHICH WERE NOT INTENDING TO FLY. ACCIDENT AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST APPROXIMATELY 346 FEET FROM THE CENTER LINE OF RUNWAY 27 ON A 020 HEADING. THE ACCIDENT AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED, RIGHT WING SEPARATED FROM THE FUSELAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA09CA207](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA09CA207), Mar 20, 2009: Piper PA28-151 (N41568), Dover, DE, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
