## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON MARCH 27, 2009 AT 1545 LOCAL TIME, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS CONDUCTING TOUCH AND GO LANDINGS IN N98FC AT THE WENDOVER, UT AIRPORT. DURING THE ROLLOUT ON HIS SECOND LANDING, THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN TO PULL TO THE RIGHT. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ APPLIED FULL POWER IN AN ATTEMPT TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT. HE WAS UNABLE TO DO SO AND THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED TO THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THE RUNWAY CONTINUING FOR APPROXIMATELY 200 YARDS BEFORE IT STRUCK A LARGE PILE OF DIRT AND FLIPPED OVER RESULTING IN SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE TAIL, FUSELAGE, AND GEAR. DURING THE POST ACCIDENT INTERVIEW WITH ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ HE STATED THAT THE CARB HEAT WAS ON AND THE FLAPS WERE FULLY DEPLOYED DURING HIS ATTEMPT TO GO AROUND. THE POST ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION OF THE AIRCRAFT FOUND THAT THE RIGHT HAND BRAKE ASSEMBLY HAD NEW LININGS THAT, ALONG WITH THE THICKNESS OF THE BRAKE DISC, MADE IT DIFFICULT FOR THE TIRE TO BE TURNED. A REVIEW OF THE AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE RECORDS INDICATED THAT THE NEW LININGS HAD BEEN INSTALLED AT THE PREVIOUS ANNUAL INSPECTION APPROXIMATELY FOUR HOURS BEFORE THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED. THERE WERE TWO PEOPLE ON BOARD THE AIRCRAFT AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT WITH NO INJURIES REPORTED.
