## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) A FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR WITH LOW EXPERIENCE (4 MONTHS) WAS CONDUCTING AN "INTRODUCTORY" FLIGHT WITH A POSSIBLE FUTURE STUDENT. THE CFI WAS ALLOWING THE PASSENGER TO HANDLE ONE CONTROL AT A TIME WHILE HE KEPT OVERALL CONTROL OF THE HELICOPTER. WHILE THE PASSENGER WAS HANDLING THE CYLIC STICK, THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN A RAPID MOVEMENT TO THE LEFT; AS THE CFI WAS CORRECTING THE LOW ROTOR HORN SOUNDED AND THE AIRCRAFT LANDED ON ITS SIDE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR09CA173](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR09CA173), Mar 30, 2009: Robinson Helicopter R22 Beta (N74815), Chandler, AZ, substantial damage. Probable cause: The certified flight instructor's inadequate supervision of the student pilot during a hover demonstration and his subsequent loss of helicopter control that resulted in a dynamic rollover.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
