## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

A RELATIVELY NEW AND LOW TIME PILOT WITH A PRIVATE PILOT CERTIFICATE ATTEMPTED TO LAND OFF AIRPORT IN WET AND SNOW COVERED CONDITIONS. PILOT DEPARTED MERRILL AIRPORT (MRI) ON A PLEASURE FLIGHT TO THE NORTH WITHOUT FILING A FLIGHT PLAN AND WITHOUT A WEATHER BRIEFING. ON AN ATTEMPTED FULL STOP LANDING THE GEAR DUG INTO THE SNOW AND THE AIRCRAFT FLIPPED OVER ON ITS BACK. THE WING AND TAIL WERE DAMAGED. THE PROP STRUCK THE GROUND AND THE ENGINE HAD A SUDDEN STOPAGE. THE DAMAGE IS CONSIDERED SUBSTANTIAL.LOCAL WEATHER CONDITIONS WERE VFR.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
