## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING LANDING ON RUNWAY 25 AT KVGT IN N4816D, THE PILOT-IN-COMMAND (PIC) EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF CONTROL WHICH RESULTED IN SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT WING, PROPELLER, AND NOSE WHEEL. THE PIC STATED THAT AFTER A NORMAL APPROACH TO LANDING AND DURING THE LANDING FLARE, THE AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED WIND GUSTS WHICH RESULTED IN AN UNCOMMANDED ROLL TO THE LEFT. THE RIGHT WING TIP STRUCK THE GROUND AND AS THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED IN ITS FORWARD MOMENTUM, THE PROPELLER STRUCK THE GROUND BEFORE COMING TO A REST. WINDS OBSERVED AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT WERE FROM 210 AT 22 KNOTS GUSTING TO 31 KNOTS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR09CA194](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR09CA194), Apr 14, 2009: Cessna 182A (N4816D), Las Vegas, NV, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate compensation for the gusty crosswind conditions while landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
