## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE AIRCRAFT OWNER AND PILOT IN COMMAND, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, ALLOWED ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, A PRIVATE PILOT, TO FLY THE AIRCRAFT FROM THE LEFT SEAT AND LAND IT ON RUNWAY 29 AT M. GRAHAM CLARK - TANEY COUNTY AIRPORT (PLK) IN POINT LOOKOUT, MO. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ HAD NEVER FLOWN THE ZENITH 250 BEFORE THIS FLIGHT. ON LANDING, HE OVERCORRECTED FOR THE CROSSWIND FROM THE LEFT AND THEN OVERCORRECTED TO THE RIGHT. AT SOME POINT HERE, BOTH PILOTS WERE ON THE CONTROLS. AFTER REPEATING THIS CYCLE AGAIN, THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED THE RUNWAY TO THE RIGHT, SKIDDED IN THE MUD AND STRUCK A CULVERT, COLLAPSING THE NOSE GEAR AND RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR. THE ZENITH 250 HAS BRAKES ONLY ON THE LEFT SET OF RUDDER PEDALS; THERE ARE NO BRAKES ON THE RIGHT SIDE WHERE THE PILOT IN COMMAND WAS SEATED. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ HOLDS A FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATE WITH A ROTORCRAFT - HELICOPTER RATING, BUT WAS NOT GIVING FLIGHT INSTRUCTION TO ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN09CA259](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN09CA259), Apr 20, 2009: Zenith CH-250 (N931CE), Hollister, MO, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
