## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) UPON LANDING THE AIRPLANE VEERED LEFT, THE PILOT ADDED POWER ATTEMPTING TO TAKEOFF AND STRUCK A TREE WITH THE LEFT WING TIP GROUND LOOPING THE AIRPLANE, BREAKING OFF THE TAIL SECTION. THE PILOT REPORTED A CROSS WIND OF 5 TO 8 MPH DURING THE LANDING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA09CA268](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA09CA268), Apr 25, 2009: Diamond DA20 (N561CS), Townsend, GA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during a landing roll with a crosswind. Contributing to the accident was the pilot's lack of experience in the make and model airplane.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
