## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING CLIMB-OUT FROM KJLN, THE PILOT REPORTED THAT THE LANDING GEAR "IN TRANSIENT" LIGHT REMAINED ON AFTER SELECTING GEAR-UP. RETURNING TO KJLN FOR LANDING, THE NOSE GEAR STRUT AND WHEEL ASSEMBLY DEPARTED THE AIRCRAFT AFTER TOUCHDOWN. THE AIRCRAFT NOSE LOWERED TO THE RUNWAY AND SKIDDED APPROXIMATELY 800 FEET. POST-INCIDENT INSPECTION OF THE NOSE GEAR STRUT ASSEMBLY BY THE OWNER/OPERATOR SHOWED INDICATIONS OF STRESS OVERLOAD AND THE POSSIBILITY OF PRE-EXISTING CRACK. THIS MAY HAVE CAUSED GEAR RETRACT AND NOSE DOOR ALIGNMENT PROBLEMS, RESULTING IN ABNORMAL GEAR INDICATIONS. NOSE-GEAR SHIMMY PROBLEMS, WELL KNOWN TO VELOCITY AIRCRAFT OWNERS AND THE MANUFACTURER, MAY HAVE PRECIPITATED THESE CONDITIONS. INCIDENT NUMBER ICE052009014 IS CLOSED WITH THIS REPORT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
