## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AFTER PURCHASING THE AIRCRAFT, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS DELIVERING N558CB BACK TO HIS HOME FROM LONG BEACH, CA TO SOUTH RIDING, VA. DURING THE THIRD LEFT OF HIS TRIP, AND IFR FLIGHT FROM TULSA, OK TO LOUISVILLE, KY, WHILE IN CRUISE AT 11,000 FEET MSL, THE LEFT ENGINE FAILED. HE FEATHERED THE PROPELLER AND LANDED AT SPRINGFIELD-BRANSON NATIONAL AIRPORT (SGF) IN SPRINGFIELD, MO WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE #5 AND #6 CONNECTOR RODS, CYLINDERS, AND THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE CASE BLEW COMPLETELY OPEN. INCIDENT #ICE052009016 IS CLOSED WITH THIS REPORT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
