(-23) ON 05/10/2009 A APPROXIMATELY 2:00 PM LOCAL TIME THE OWNER/PILOT OF N602DB WAS HOVERING IN HIS ROTORWAY EXEC ON HIS PERSONAL PROPERLY. THE PILOT REPORTED THAT WHILE HOVERING A FEW FEET OFF THE GROUND A GUST OF WIND SHOVED THE HELICOPTER SIDEWAYS CAUSING THE LEFT SKID TO COME IN CONTACT WITH THE GROUND. THE AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED WITH NO INJURIES TO THE PILOT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN09CA290](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN09CA290), May 10, 2009: Bolton Ricky D Rotorway E (N602DB), Brookeland, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot failed to maintain control while hovering in gusty conditions.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
