## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT WAS CONDUCTING LANDING PRACTICE IN THE PATTERN AT WICHITA MID-CONTIENT AIRPORT (KICT) IN PREPARATION FOR THE COMMERCIAL PILOT PRACTICAL TEST. DURING THE TAKEOFF ROLL ON RUNWAY 1L THE PILOT INADVERTENTLY PLACED THE GEAR LEVER IN THE UP POSITION AT OR SHORTLY AFTER BEGINNING ROTATION PRESSURE. THE NOSE GEAR RETRACTED INTO THE WHEEL WELL AND THE MAIN GEAR REMAINED ON THE RUNWAY. THE PILOT HEARD THE GEAR WARNING AND REACTED BY RELAXING BACK PRESSURE THUS LOWERING THE NOSE AT WHICH TIME THE PROPELLER STRUCK THE RUNWAY. THE PILOT DECIDED TO ABORT THE TAKEOFF AND SETTLED THE NOSE ONTO THE RUNWAY CAUSING DAMAGE TO THE NOSE GEAR DOORS AND PROPELLER. THE PILOT HAD CONDUCTED MULTIPLE STOP AND GO LANDINGS DURING THIS FLIGHT ON RUNWAYS 1L AND 1R PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. THE PILOT WAS NOT INJURED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
