## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON MAY 14, 2009, AT 7:30 CDT, THE PILOT WAS CLEARED TO TAXI 17R VIA TAXIWAY CHARLIE FROM THE TIE-DOWN RAMP AT ABILENE AERO. WHILE STILL ON TAXIWAY CHARLIE, A PARALLEL TAXIWAY TO 17R, AND APPROACHING CHARLIE - 4, HE UNEXPECTEDLY CAME UPON A HOLD SHORT BAR FOR A RUNWAY. HE FIRMLY APPLIED THE BRAKES AT THE HOLD SHORT BAR. HE STATED HE HAD REVIEWED AN AIRPORT DIAGRAM BUT DID NOT ASSUME THERE WAS A HOLD SHORT FOR RUNWAY 22 AS IT DOES NOT INTERSECT WITH RUNWAY 17R OR TAXIWAY CHARLIE. DUE TO THE RAPID APPLICATION OF THE BRAKES, IN COMBINATION WITH A STRONG QUARTERING TAILWIND, THE AIRCRAFT PITCHED FORWARD DAMAGEING THE PROPELLER AND MUFFLER. THE DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT WAS MINOR. THE PILOT, THE ONLY OCCUPANT ON BOARD, RECEIVED NO INJURIES.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
