## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ DEPARTED JUNCTION CITY MUNICIPAL AIRPORT, KANSAS, MADE THREE FUEL STOPS ALONG THE WAY, WITH A FINAL DESTINATION OF GLENDALE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT, GLENDALE, ARIZONA. HE WAS LANDING AT GLENDALE, RUNWAY 01. DURING THE LANDING ROLLOUT, THE AIRCRAFT GROUND LOOPED TO THE RIGHT, STRIKING THE LEFT WING AND LEFT ELEVATOR ON THE GROUND. THE LEFT WING SUFFERED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE, AS DID THE LEFT ELEVATOR. THE PILOT REPORTED NO NOTABLE MECHANICAL IRREGULARITIES DURING THE LANDING NOR ON ANY PREVIOUS LANDINGS THAT DAY. HE STATES THERE MAY HAVE BEEN A GUST OF WIND DURING THE LANDING ROLLOUT, BUT BECAUSE IT HAPPENED SO QUICKLY, HE WAS UNABLE TO RECALL WITH COMPLETE CERTAINITY. INVESTIGATION FINDS NO MECHANICAL IRREGULARITIES WITH TIRES, WHEELS, AND BRAKES. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ HAD FLOWN APPROXIMATELY 10.5 HOURS BEFORE THIS FINAL LANDING. RECOMMEND RE-EXAMINATION, 44709.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR09CA257](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR09CA257), May 20, 2009: Piper PA-20 (N1591A), Glendale, AZ, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's inadequate compensation for the crosswind conditions and failure to maintain directional control on the landing roll out.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
