## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR ALLOWED LEFT FUEL CELL TO RUN DRY IN LANDING PATTERN. LOW ALTITUDE DID NOT ALLOW ENOUGH TIME FOR RESTART, RESULTING IN OFF AIRPORT LANDING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA09LA308](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA09LA308), May 26, 2009: Piper PA-28-161 (N1669H), Jasper, AL, substantial damage. Probable cause: A total loss of engine power due to fuel starvation as a result of the flight instructor's improper fuel management.

## Other reports on N1669H (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19840622038309I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19840622038309I), Jun 22, 1984: Piper PA28161 (N1669H), Beverly, MA, Minor damage. Lost control of aircraft while practicing touch and go landings. Had a tailwind.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
