## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) STUDENT PILOT DEPARTED S73 AND FLEW TO S80 TO GET FUEL. AFT LANDING ON RWY 25 HE EXITED THE RUNWAY TO THE LEFT AND BEGAN TAXIING TO THE FUEL FACILITY ON AN ACCESS ROAD. PILOT DID NOT REALIZE AT THE TIME THAT THIS WAS NOT A DESIGNATED TAXIWAY. PILOT ESTIMATED HIS TAXI SPEED AS SLOWER THAN NORMAL. AS HE PROCEEDED HE NOTICED A VEHICLE APPROACH FROM THE RIGHT. AS HE LOOKED IN THE VEHICLES DIRECTION, HE DID NOT NOTICE HE WAS DRIFTING TO THE LEFT. AS HE LOOKED BACK TO THE LEFT THE WING TIP HIT A SIGN ON THE EDGE OF THE ROADWAY CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO TURN LEFT AND EXIT THE ROADWAY INTO A DITCH. THE PROPELLER HIT THE GROUND AND THE NOSE GEAR SUSTAINED DAMAGE AS WELL AS THE LEFT WING. THERE WAS NO FIRE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
