## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE ENROUTE FROM STURGIS SD TO SIOUX CENTER IA, THE AIRCRAFT ENGINE QUIT DUE TO FUEL STARVATION APPROXIMATELY 4 MILES WEST OF KFSD. THE AIRCRAFT MADE AN EMERGENCY LANDING AT KFSD. THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR ONBOARD THE AIRCRAFT AT THE INCIDENT, STATED THE APPROXIMATELY ONE HOUR BEFORE THE ENGINE QUIT, THEY NOTICED THE ENGINE HAVING SOME HESITATION AND HE AND THE PILOT WERE HAVING SOME DIFFICULTY WITH THE SWITCHOLOGY OF THE FUEL SYSTEM, BUT ALSO NOTED THAT THE FUEL QUANTITY GAGES READ 1/2 AND 3/8 CAPACITY. ONCE ON THE GROUND THE FUEL TANKS WERE FOUND TO BE EMPTY.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
