## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

WHILE ENROUTE TO CABIN AT 150'AGL OVER BELUGA MOUNTAINS, ENGINE STARTED RUNNING VERY ROUGH AND LOST POWER. WAS ABLE TO ESTABLISH GLIDE AND MAKE PRECAUTIONARY LANDING AT TALACHULITNA LODGE LANDING STRIP (PVT). THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT NOR INJURY TO THE OCCUPANTS. THE ENGINE WAS REMOVED AND FLOWN TO ALASKA AIRCRAFT ENGINES AT MERRILL FIELD IN ANCHORAGE. THE ENGINE WAS EXAMINED AFTER PARTIAL TEAR DOWN AND THE #1 CYLINDER INTAKE VALVE WAS FOUND STUCK PARTIALLY OPEN. I WILL AMMEND THIS REPORT WHEN THE FINAL REPORT IS ISSUED FROM ALASKA AIRCRAFT ENGINES WITH ANY FINDINGS ON WHAT CAUSED THE VALVE TO STICK OPEN. THIS REPORT WAS INITIALLY IDENTIFIED AS IAL0320090031.

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19870613051019I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19870613051019I), Jun 13, 1987: Cessna 172K (N78640), Monroe, WA. Solo student made off airport landing due to fuel starvation. Foreign material obstruction in the fuel valve.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
