## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ WAS TRANSPORTING N1049W FROM POPE FIELD IN GREENFIELD, IN TO SHERIDAN AVIATION AT 5I4, SHERIDAN, IN FOR A SUMMER SERVICE CALL. ABOUT 15 TO 17 MINUTES INTO THE FLIGHT AND AT 3000 FEET, THE ENGINE STARTED TO LOSE POWER. CARBURETOR HEAT WAS APPLIED AND A MAGNETO CHECK WAS ACCOMPLISHED, WITH THE FINDING OF A ROUGH RUNNING LEFT MAG. THE ENGINE THEN STOPPED RUNNING. A RESTART WAS TRIED, BUT TOO MUCH ALTITUDE WAS BEING LOST SO THE DECISION WAS MADE TO PUT THE AIRCRAFT DOWN IN A FIELD BELOW. NO INJURY TO THE PILOT OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT WAS SUSTAINED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
