## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT STATED THAT WHILE ON DESCENT INTO KLCK FROM 6500 FT MSL TO 1500 FT MSL THE LEFT HAND LEADING EDGE OF THE CANOPY DOOR STARTED TO FLUTTER FOLLOWED BY THE CANOPY DOOR SEPARATING FROM THE AIRCRAFT. THE DOOR MADE CONTACT WITH THE PROPELLE CAUSING SEPARATION AND ENGINE FAILURE. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED IN A WHEAT FIELD (N3946.680 W082.53.087) AND SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE UPON TOUCHDOWN. THE LEFT MAIN GEAR COLLAPSED INWARD AND THE LEFT WING WAS DAMAGED FROM APPROXIMATELY THE MIDPOINT OUTWARD.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN09CA386](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN09CA386), Jun 24, 2009: Hubbell Prescott Pusher (N19PP), Ashville, OH, substantial damage. Probable cause: A partial loss of engine power due to propeller damage from being struck by the cabin-entry door, which inadvertently opened and departed the airframe for undetermined reasons during flight.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
