## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AIRCRAFT DEPARTED BLUE LICK (07KY) ON A HEADING OF 140 DEGREES AND CRUISE ALTITUDE BETWEEN 1700 TO 1800 MSL. AT WHICH THE AIRCRAFT LOSS POWER AND THE PILOT MADE A EMERGENCY LANDING IN A SOY BEAN FIELD. THE RESULT OF THE LANDING BROKE OFF THE NOSE GEAR, NOSED OF THE AIRCRAFT INTO THE GROUND, BENT BOTH PROPELLER BLADES, AND THE LEFT AND RIGHT WING SUSTAINED DAMAGE BY THE CONTACT TO THE GROUND. THE MIXTURE CONTROL CABLE WAS FOUND UNDAMAGED AND NOT CONNECTED TO THE CARBURETOR.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA09LA372](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA09LA372), Jun 27, 2009: Cessna 172D (N172TJ), Shepherdsville, KY, substantial damage. Probable cause: The mechanic's improper inspection of the mixture control cable.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
