## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

BOTH PILOTS STATED THEY WERE ON A 14CFR PART 91 INSTRUCTION FLIGHT THAT DEPARTED MRI. THE CFI STUDENT DEMONSTRATED GEAR EMERGENCY PROCEDURES WHEN THE MAIN GEAR FAILED TO EXTEND AND LOCK. ALL ATTEMPTS TO LOWER THE GEAR USING THE EMERGENCY CHECKLIST FAILED. THEY ELECTED TO LAND IN THE GRASS ADJACENT TO RWY 35 AT MRI AFTER DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. EMERGENCY EQUIPMENT WAS STANDING BY. THE GEAR COLLAPSED COMPLETELY ON LANDING. DAMAGE WAS LIMITED TO PROPELLER, TAILPIPE, COWL, AND SEVERAL ANTENNAS ON THE BELLY OF THE AIRCRAFT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
