## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON JULY 1, 2009, AT AROUND 8:55 LOCAL, AIRCRAFT N60616, A CESSNA MODEL C172, LOST POWER AND LANDED UNEVENTFULLY AT THE LEFFLER AIRPORT NEAR LONGWOOD, FLORIDA. THE FLIGHT THAT DAY WAS A DUAL, INSTRUCTIONAL FLIGHT TO THE LOCAL PRACTICE AREA OVER LAKE ASHBY. THE PILOT STATED THAT AS HE WAS SETTING UP FOR A STALL, HE BROUGHT THE POWER BACK TO IDLE AND UPON RECOVERY, APPLIED FULL POWER. THE ENGINE REMAINED IDLED, AS IT WAS NOT RESPONDING TO ANY THROTTLE COMMAND. AFTER LANDING, THE ENGINE COWLING WAS REMOVED AND AN INSPECTION OF THE THROTTLE CABLE REVEALED A SHEARED BOLT. THIS BOLT ATTACHES THE THROTTLE CABLE TO THE THROTTLE BODY OF THE CARBURETOR. A NEW BOLT WAS INSTALLED AND THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED AND LANDED UNEVENTFULLY AT THE NEW SYMERNA BEACH AIRPORT. NOTE: BLOCK 21 - PILOT INFORMATION NOT APPLICABLE.NOTE: BLOCK 38 - AIRCRAFT, N60616, WAS REPAIRED ON THE AIR FIELD AND DEPARTED. THEREFORE THERE WAS NO FAA REPRESENTATIVE AT THE SCENE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
