## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON JULY 4, 2009 N432P, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ OPERATED BY ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE AFTER A HARD LANDING AT THE ARLINGTON AIRPORT, ARLINGTON WASHINGTON. THE PILOT INADVERTENTLY SWITCHED TO AN EMPTY TANK, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO LOSE POWER SHORTLY AFTER TAKEOFF. NO HAVING ENOUGH RUNWAY TO LAND STRAIGHT AHEAD, THE PILOT MADE AN APPROXIMATELY 135 DEGREE LEFT TURN AN ATTEMPT TO LAND ON AN UNOCCUPIED TAXI-WAY. THE AIRCRAFT STALLED AND NO INJURIES WERE RECEIVED. PILOT STATED THAT THE FUEL SELECTOR IS CONFUSING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR09CA329](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR09CA329), Jul 5, 2009: Nalis Glastar (N432P), Arlington, WA, substantial damage. Probable cause: A total loss of engine power due to fuel starvation as a result of the pilot's failure to select the fullest tank prior to takeoff.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
