## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON APPROACH TO EYW (KEY WEST) THE GEAR WAS SELECTED TO THE DOWN POSITION, THE PILOT HEARD AN USUSUAL SOUND AND THEN NOTICED THERE WAS NO GREEN NOSE LANDING GEAR DOWN LIGHT ON. HE DID A FLY-BY THE TOWER AND THE TOWER STATED IT APPEARED THE NOSE GEAR WAS NOT FULLY DEPLOYED. PILOT LEFT THE TRAFFIC PATTERN AND FLEW OUT OVER THE OCEAN AND CYCLED THE GEAR SEVERAL TIMES IN AN ATTEMPT TO GET THE NOSE LANDING GEAR TO EXTEND FULLY. WHEN THE NOSE LANDING GEAR FAILED TO EXTEND AFTER TRYING A MANUAL EXTENSION THE PILOT DECIDED TO GO BACK TO FMY (PAGE FIELD-FORT MEYERS). UPON ARRIVAL INTO FMY THE PILOT FLEW BY THE TOWER ONCE AGAIN AND THE TOWER CONFIRMED IT APPEARED NOT TO BE FULLY EXTENDED. THE PILOT LANDED THE AIRCRAFT WHICH SUSTAINED DAMAGE TO THE NOSE GEAR DOORS, SHIMMY DAMPER, NOSE CONE, PITOT TUBE AND EACH ENGINE PROPELLER.

Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
