## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT STATED THE ENGINE FAILED AFTER TURNING ONTO A RIGHT DOWNWIND FOR RUNWAY 26R AT KSUS. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED A QUICK RESTART BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE AIRPLANE LANDED IN THE CANOPY OF A TREE NEXT TO THE AIRPORT PROPERTY. THE AIRPLANE ROLLED TO THE RIGHT AND FELL TO THE GROUND IN AN INVERTED POSITION. AFTER THE AIRPLANE CAME TO A REST, THE PILOT SECURED THE SWITCHES PRIOR TO LEAVING THE AIRPLANE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN09CA423](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN09CA423), Jul 8, 2009: Lewis Keith O Viggenite (N20VV), Chesterfield, MO, substantial damage. Probable cause: The loss of engine power for unknown reasons.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
