## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON JULY 7, 2009, AT APPROXIMATELY 2115 CDT, A PARACHUTIST JUMPED FROM A CESSNA 150, N3109J, AT 3000 FEET MSL OVER THE KOFK AIRPORT. THE PARACHUTIST DEPLOYED HIS CANOPY AND PERFORMED A SPIRAL MANEUVER LOW TO THE GROUND. THE CANOPY COLLAPSED AND THE PARACHUTIST WAS UNABLE TO SLOW HIS DESCENT BEFORE IMPACTING THE GROUND. THE PARACHUTIST RECEIVED A BLOW TO HIS HEAD AND A BROKEN LEG. THE PILOT OF THE CESSNA 150 LANDED SAFELY AT THE KOFK AIRPORT. THE PARACHUTIST WAS AIR LIFTED TO THE MERCY MEDICAL CENTER IN SIOUX CITY, IOWA. HE WAS PLACED IN A MEDICALLY INDUCED COMMA AND WAS LISTED IN CRITICAL CONDITION.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
