## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT, WHO WAS THE SOLE OCCUPANT OF THE AIRCRAFT, TOOK OFF AT 14:18 HOURS CDT ON A LOCAL VFR FLIGHT FROM RUNWAY 18 AT GOULD PETERSON MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (K57) IN TARKIO, MISSOURI TO PRACTICE HER AEROBATICS ROUTINE. SHE PERFORMED VERTICAL CLIMB WITH TWO LEFT HAND ROLLS, THEN A FORWARD TUMBLE AND UNPLANNED INVERTED FLAT SPIN. DURING THE FLAT SPIN, IT APPEARS THAT SHE HAD CONTROL PROBLEMS AND ENTERED A 45 DEGREE DIVE. AT THE BOTTOM OF THE DIVE, THE AIRCRAFT PULLED OUT OF THE DIVE AND THEN IMMEDIATELY ROLLED RIGHT, GOING INVERTED AND CONTINUED TO ROLL RIGHT SIDE UP STRIKING THE GROUND IN ABOUT A 30 DEGREE RIGHT BANK WITH ABOUT A 25 DEGREE NOSE DOWN ATTITUDE. THE PILOT, THE ONLY OCCUPANT OF THE AIRCRAFT, WAS FATALLY INJURED POST ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION SHOWED NO EVIDENCE OF ANY STRUCTURAL FAILURE BEFORE IMPACT, THE ENGINE WAS DEVELOPING POWER PRIOR TO IMPACT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN09LA427](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN09LA427), Jul 10, 2009: Zivko Aeronautics Edge 540 (N26HB), Tarkio, MO, substantial damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain aircraft control during the aerobatic flight.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
