## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) TAYLORCRAFT N96660 WAS CLEARED TO LAND ON RUNWAY 18 AT JLN. THE TRAFFIC CONTROLLER OBSERVED THE TAYLORCRAFT MAKING A VERY SLOW AND LOW APPROACH TO RUNWAY 18. THE CONTROLLER ALSO OBSERVED THE AIRCRAFT MAKE CONTACT WITH THE RUNWAY SEVERAL TIMES DURING THE LANDING FOLLOWED BY "FISH TAILING" DOWN THE RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT WAS LAST OBSERVED MAKING A SEVERE SWERVE TO THE LEFT AND THEN TO THE RIGHT, AT WHICH TIME THE AIRCRAFT LEFT THE RUNWAY AND IMMEDIATELY OVERTURNED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN09CA436](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN09CA436), Jul 14, 2009: Taylorcraft BC-D (N96660), Joplin, MO, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during the landing roll.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
