## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT REPORTED UNSAFE NOSE GEAR INDICATION PRIOR TO LANDING. AFTER FOUR ATTEMPTS TO LOWER LANDING GEAR PERFORMED LOW PASS AT KISP TOWER, PERSONNEL INDICATED NOSE GEAR DID APPEAR DOWN, BUT NOT FULLY EXTENDED. PILOT LANDED RUNWAY 24, NOSE GEAR COLLASPED ON AIRCRAFT TOUCH DOWN, AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST AT INTERSECTION OF RUNWAY 24 AND 33L. PILOT EXITED AIRCRAFT, WITH NO REPORTED INJURIES, NO OTHER PERSONNEL ONBOARD.DAMAGE NOTED TO BOTH AIRCRAFT PROPELLERS, LOWER NOSE SECTION OF FUSELAGE INCLUDING NOSE BAY DOORS, AND FWD BAGGAGE BAY BULKHEAD. DURING AIRCRAFT RECOVERY EFFORTS NOSE GEAR WOULD NOT LOCK IN DOWN POSITION. FURTHER INVESTIGATION NOTED DAMAGE TO NOSE GEAR STEERING STOPS, AND CRACKED NOSE GEAR STEERING ARM CHANNEL,THE CRACKED STEERING ARM CHANNEL HAD CASUED NOSE STEERING TILLER ROLLER TO COME OUT OF THE STEERING ARM CHANNEL, PREVENTING NOSE GEAR FROM COMPLETELY CENTERING OR COMING FULLY LOCKED IN THE DOWN POSITION. THIS CONDITION HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED IN AD 2005-13-16 & PIPER S/B 1123B BOTH OF WHICH WERE COMPLIED WITH ON THIS AIRCRAFT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
