## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) A WITNESS OBSERVED THE FLIGHT PRIOR TO THE ACCIDENT AND STATED THAT THE AIRCRAFT TOOK OFF AND DID A ROLL. IT THEN DID A LOOP WITH TOO LOW OF AN ALTITUDE. THE PILOT COULDN'T PULL OUT OF THE LOOP AND THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK THE GROUND. EMERGENCY PERSONNEL REMOVED THE PILOT FROM THE WRECKAGE BY CUTTING HIM FREE. HE COMPLAINED OF BACK AND MID-SECTION PAIN. A TELEPHONE INTERVIEW WITH THE PILOT WAS CONDUCTED ON AUGUST 3, 2009. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE BELIEVED THE ACCIDENT WAS CAUSED BY STALLING THE AIRCRAFT AT A LOW ALTITUDE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN09LA492](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN09LA492), Aug 1, 2009: Stirling Starduster (N1XY), Earlham, IA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain clearance from the ground during an aerobatic maneuver.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
