## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON 8/4/2009 AT APPROXIMATELY 1510 MST, MR. ROBERT REMIRO WAS FLYING FROM COTTONWOOD ARIZONA TO HOLBROOK, ARIZONA, WHEN THE PLANE HE WAS PILOTING, A BOEING E-75 STEARMAN, STRUCK THE GROUND APPROXIMATELY 35 MILES SOUTHEAST OF FLAGSTAFF, ARIZONA. DURING THE POST-ACCIDENT INTERVIEW WITH THE SURVIVOR, MR. EDWARD REMIRO STATED THE ROUTE OF FLIGHT WAS MYF, BLH, P52, P14, BLACK MESA. RECORDS SHOW THE PILOT PURCHASED 33 GAL. OF FUEL AT COTTONWOOD AIRPORT. MR EDWARD REMIRO STATED THAT THEY WERE AT APPROXIMATELY 1700 FT AGL WHEN THE PILOT DECIDED TO TURN AROUND BECAUSE THE AIRCRAFT WAS NOT GAINING ALTITUDE. EDWARD STATED HIS HEAD WAS DOWN, LOOKING AT THE CHART AS THEY TURNED, WHEN HE LOOKED UP THEY WERE GOING DOWN FAST AND THEN HE BLACKED OUT. THE ELEVATION AT POINT OF IMPACT WAS 6700 FT; THE CALCULATED DENSITY ALTITUDE AT THAT POINT WAS 10,700 FT. THE ENGINE IS RATED AT 225 HP; CALCULATIONS SHOW THE ENGINE WOULD HAVE BEEN PRODUCING 169 HP WITH THE ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS OF THAT DAY. RECORDS INDICATE BOTH OCCUPANTS WEIGH 200 LBS. NO MAINTENANCE ISSUES INVOLVED AT THIS TIME.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR09LA384](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR09LA384), Aug 4, 2009: Boeing E75 (N5195N), Happy Jack, AZ, substantial damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain airspeed while maneuvering which resulted in an inadvertent stall/spin. Contributing to the accident was the high density altitude.

## Other reports on N5195N (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19760516013449A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19760516013449A), May 16, 1976: Boeing E75 (N5195N), Rotan, TX, Destroyed

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
