## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

STUDENT DEPARTED FDY FOR SOLO PRACTICE. WHILE PRACTICING TOUCH AND GO LANDINGS AT 5G7, ON RUNWAY 5, THE PILOT REPORTED THE LEFT MAIN TOUCHED DOWN FIRST, FOLLOWED BY THE NOSE GEAR. HE REPORTED HEARING A NOISE, BUT THOUGHT IT WAS THE NOSE GEAR HITTING THE RUNWAY. AFTER ROLLOUT AND TAXI BACK, THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED FOR FDY. AT FDY, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE PROPELLER WAS DAMAGED. FURTHER INVESTIGATION FOUND BUCKLING OF THE LOWER FIREWALL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN09CA509](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN09CA509), Aug 6, 2009: Cessna 172S (N6186T), Bluffton, OH, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot's failure to compensate for wind conditions and maintain aircraft control during the landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
