## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT REPORTED THAT WHILE SPRAYING THIRD FIELD, AFTER MAKING PASS TO LOOK FOR OBSTRUCTIONS, HE HEARD A LOUD POP AND REALIZED HE HAD NO ELEVATOR CONTROL. HE WAS ON CLIMBOUT AND AT ABOUT 300 FEET AGL. AIRPLANE CONTINUED TO CLIMB WITH CONTROL MAINTAINED USING POWER AND ELEVATOR TRIM. PILOT FLEW BACK TO WORTHINGTON, MN (OTG) AND LANDED AT HIGHER THAN NORMAL SPEED TO MAINTAIN CONTROL. AIRCRAFT BOUNCED THREE TIMES ON LANDING. ON THIRD BOUNCE, LANDING GEAR BROKE OFF FROM AIRCRAFT AND PROPELLER STRUCK RUNWAY. AIRCRAFT DEPARTED RUNWAY TO THE RIGHT AND REMAINED UPRIGHT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN09LA526](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN09LA526), Aug 16, 2009: Thrush S2R-T660 (N660RB), Worthington, MN, substantial damage. Probable cause: A fatigue failure of the elevator push-pull rod which resulted in the pilot's inability to control the aircraft's pitch attitude while landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
