## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT WAS DEPARTING RUNWAY 32 WITH 5 GALLONS OF CHEMICAL AND 100 GALLONS OF FUEL (JET-A) ON BOARD. WHEN ASKED WHY HE ONLY HAD 5 GALLONS OF PRODUCT ON BOARD THE PILOT STATED THAT HE WAS ONLY GOING UP TO DO AN AERIAL SURVEY OF HIS NEXT FIELD. HE ALSO STATED THAT HE NORMALLY ONLY MONITORS THE TORQUE GAUGE WHICH SEEMED NORMAL. AT MID-FIELD DURING THE TAKEOFF ROLL HE REALIZED THAT THE AIRCRAFT FELT SLUGGISH AND SLOW. HE STATED THAT HE WAS ABLE TO GET THE TAIL UP BUT THAT IT SETTLED, HE NO LONGER HAD ENOUGH RUNWAY LEFT TO STOP. HE CONTINUED TO TRY TO TAKEOFF AND THE AIRCRAFT DID BECOME AIRBORNE BUT WAS UNABLE TO CLIMB. HE WAS ABLE TO FLY OVER A DITCH AND THEN SETTLED INTO A CORN FIELD. THE LEFT WING HIT THE GROUND FIRST THEN SPUN THE AIRCRAFT AROUND. PILOT STATED THAT THOUGH THE TORQUE SHOWED NORMAL FOR TAKEOFF THE ENGINE DID NOT SEEM TO DEVELOP POWER. POWER TURBIN VANES WERE FOUND AT THE ACCIDENT SITE WHICH APPEAR TO HAVE EXITED THROUGH THE EXHAUST STACKS. THERE WAS NO EXTERNAL PHYSICAL DAMAGE TO THE ENIGNE WHICH WOULD HAVE COMPROMISED THE VANES. IT IS PLANNED TO HAVE THE ENGINE INVESTIGATED FOR INTERNAL FAILURE AND REPORTS OF FAILURE FORWARDED IN AN M OR D REPORT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
