## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) STUDENT PILOT GAO PEIDING WAS PARTICIPATING WITH HIS INITIAL SOLO FLIGHT AT THE GLENDALE, AZ AIRPORT. HIS INSTRUCTOR, MINDY SELL, AFTER APPROPRIATELY ENDORSING MR. PEIDING, EXITED THE AIRCRAFT AND PROCEEDED INTO THE TERMINAL BUILDING. MR. PEIDING PROCEEDED TO COMPLETE THE FIRST TAKEOFF AND LANDING TO A FULL STOP AND TAXIED BACK FOR ANOTHER DEPARTURE. DURING THE LANDING PHASE OF THIS SECOND SOLO FLIGHT MR. PEIDING APPEARS TO HAVE LANDED HARD AND LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE PIPER PA-28 AIRCRAFT EXITED THE RUWWAY TO THE WEST, SPINNING ALMOST ONE FULL CLOCKWISE REVOLUTION, COMING TO REST BETWEEN THE RUNWAY AND THE WEST SIDE TAXI WAY ALPHA.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR09CA410](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR09CA410), Aug 21, 2009: Piper PA28 (N424PA), Glendale, AZ, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilot's failure to maintain directional control during the landing roll.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
