## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING THE RETURN FROM A 1.5 HOUR LOCAL SIGHTSEEING FLIGHT, WHILE @ 1200 AGL, THE ENGINE POWER HESITATED. PILOT CLIMBED TO 1600 AGL AND AFTER LEVELING OUT, THE ENGINE QUIT. DURING THE DESCENT GLIDE, THE PILOT CHECKED; CARB HEAT, FUEL SELECTIONS BETWEEN "BOTH", "RIGHT", & "LEFT", AND CHECKED THE MIXTURE KNOB @ "FULL RICH", CHECKED THE IGNITION SWITCH SELECTION, AND STOWED THE "PRIMER" KNOB. THE LANDING WAS IN A MARSHY BOG WITH FLAPS SELECTED TO 20 DEGREES AND THE CONTROL YOKE WAS PULLED TO FULL AFT. THE PILOT AND 3 PASSENGERS RECEIVED MINOR INJURIES AND WALKED TO AN ACCESS ROAD.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC09LA086](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC09LA086), Aug 25, 2009: Cessna 180 (N4601A), Chugiak, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s delayed use of carburetor heat while operating in conditions conducive to carburetor icing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
