## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

BASED ON WITNESS STATEMENTS AND PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE ENGINE COWL, IT APPEARS THE ENGINE COWLING CAME LOOSE AND WAS FLAPPING UPON TAKEOFF. ALSO BASED ON WITNESS STATEMENTS THE AIRCRAFT ENTERED A STALL FROM WHICH IT WAS NOT RECOVERABLE AND CRASHED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC09LA088](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC09LA088), Aug 25, 2009: Cessna 170B (N6073V), Anchorage, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s decision to make an abrupt and steep low altitude turn just after takeoff, while attempting to return to his departure airport, resulting in an aerodynamic stall and loss of aircraft…

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
