## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

AIRCRAFT WAS FLYING ON FLIGHT TRAINING FLIGHT AND HAD JUST LANDED ON RWY 3 AT GOODYEAR AIRPORT. THE AIRCRAFT LANDED AND ROLLED OUT WITH LITTLE BRAKING ACTION BEING APPLIED. WHILE STILL ROLLING THE AIRCRAFT TURNED OFF THE RUNWAY ONTO TAXIWAY A5. AS IT PASSED THE HOLD SHORT LINE, BRAKES WERE THEN APPLIED. THE NOSE GEAR BEGAN TO SLOWLY COLLAPSE. THE NOSE GEAR THEN RETRACTED CAUSING THE NOSE TO CONTACT THE TAXIWAY. THE ENGINES WERE BOTH RUNNING AT LOW IDLE AND BOTH PROPS STRUCK THE GROUND. ENGINE AND COCKPIT POWER WAS SHUT DOWN. ALL OCCUPANTS EXITED THE AIRCRAFT WITH NO INJURIES. SUBSEQUENT MECHANICAL INSPECTION OF THE LANDING GEAR SYSTEM FOUND THERE HAD BEEN DAMAGE SUSTAINED PREVIOUSLY TO THE NOSE GEAR DOWNLOCK HARDWARE. THIS DAMAGE ALLOWED THE DOWNLOCK RIGGING TO BECOME OUT-OF-RIG. WITH NOSE GEAR DOWNLOCK RIGGING OFF, IT ALLOWS THE NOSE GEAR EXTENSION FORK TO OVERCENTER WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE NOSE GEAR HYDRAULIC ACTUATOR IS RIGGED TO SHUT OFF HYDRAULIC PRESSURE TO THE EXTENDED PISTON ONCE THE OVERCENTER DOWNLOCK IS IN PLACE. WEIGHT OF THE AIRCRAFT ALLOWED THE NOSE GEAR TO OVERCOME THE PRESSURE IN THE HYDRAULIC PISTON, THUS ALLOWING THE GEAR TO RETRACT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
