## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

N6686E WAS DAMAGED WHILE LANDING ON AT BISHOPS CABIN (LATITUDE 39:43.53, LONGITUDE 108:08.34), A GRASS STRIP APPROXIMATELY 2000 FEET LONG BY 50 FEET WIDE. THE PILOT STATED THAT DURING THE FLARE THE AIRCRAFT DRIFTED TO THE EDGE OF THE STRIP WHERE TIRES WERE USED TO DELINEATE THE EDGE OF THE RUNWAY. AT THAT TIME THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN AND CAME IN CONTACT WITH THE TIRES AND THE AIRCRAFT WENT BACK INTO THE AIR. THE PILOT LANDED HARD AND CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE FIREWALL, LOWER SKIN JUST BEHIND THE FIREWALL AND AHEAD OF THE WING STRUT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CEN09CA615](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CEN09CA615), Sep 1, 2009: Cessna 175 (N6686E), Rio Blanco, CO, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during landing and his failure to execute a go-around.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
