## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING LANDING ON RUNWAY 31 THE PILOT EXPERIENCED A STRONG (APPROXIMATELY 25-30 KNOT) CROSSWIND FROM THE WEST DURING THE LANDING FLARE. THE PILOT BOUNCED THE AIRCRAFT AND CAME DOWN HARD ON THE NOSE LANDING GER. THE IMPACT BROKE THE NOSE WHEEL FROM THE AIRCRAFT AND THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED. THE AIRCRAFT SLID APPROXIMATELY 220 FT AND CAME TO A STOP IN THE GRASS OFF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY. A SMALL FIRE BROKE OUT IN THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT AND BURNED THROUGH THE COWLING ON THE RIGHT SIDE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR09CA444](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR09CA444), Sep 13, 2009: Beech V35 (N81895), Hailey, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot’s failure to maintain directional control of the airplane during landing in crosswind conditions.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
