## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT STATED THAT THIS WAS HIS SECOND SOLO AND THAT AFTER HIS THIRD LANDING HE APPLIED THE BRAKES BUT THEY DID NOT WORK PROPERLY AND THAT HE RAN OFF RWY 11 AT MERRITT ISLAND AIRPORT. THE AIRCRAFT VEERED TO THE LEFT, OF RWY 11 AND WENT INTO THE DITCH STRIKING BOTH WING TIPS AND CAUSING MAJOR WIND SPAR DAMAGE. AFTER RECOVERING THE A/C THE MECHANIC CHECKED THE BRAKES, THEY WERE PUMPED UP AND SEEMED TO WORK PROPERLY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA09CA522](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA09CA522), Sep 15, 2009: Cessna 152 (N93772), Merritt Island, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The student pilots failure to maintain directional control after landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
