## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

DURING THE LANDING ROLL OUT ON HIS PRIVATE STRIP, A COW UNEXPECTEDLY RAN IN FRONT OF AIRCRAFT. PILOT APPLIED THE BRAKES HEAVILY TO AVOID HITTING THE COW. BECAUSE OF THE HEAVY BRAKING, THE AIRCRAFT'S TAIL ROSE AND AIRCRAFT CAME TO A STOP UPSIDE DOWN. THE PILOT AND PASSENGER WERE NOT HURT, THE AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB WPR09CA456](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/WPR09CA456), Sep 18, 2009: Aviat A-1C (N82PL), McArthur, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain aircraft control during landing due to animals unexpectedly running onto the runway.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
