## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT MISCALCULATED AMOUNT OF REMAINING FUEL IN LEFT MAIN TANK AND ASSUMED SUFFICIENT FUEL REMAINED FOR A 10 MINUTE FLIGHT. DURING TAKEOFF AIRCRAFT CLIMBED TO APPROX 300 FEET WHEN ENGINE QUIT DUE TO FUEL EXHAUSTION. PILOT ATTEMPTED TO SWITCH TANKS, BUT WAS UNABLE AND LANDED APPROXIMATELY 50 FEET FROM END OF RUNWAY ON GRASS. AIRCRAFT ROLLED APPROXIMATELY 150 YARDS AND MADE CONTACT WITH A CHAIN LINK FENCE AND CONTINUED 20 FEET FURTHER BEFORE COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP.
