As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

ON OCTOBER 4, 2009, AT 1640 EASTERN DAYLIGHT TIME, A CESSNA 210, N9443T, REGISTERED TO A PRIVATE OWNER, OPERATING UNDER TITLE 14 CODE OF FEDERAL REGULATIONS PART 91 WHILE BEING OPERATED FOR FLIGHT TRAINING SUSTAINED A HYDRAULIC SYSTEM FAILURE, SUBSEQUENTLY RESULTING IN THE LANDING GEAR FAILING TO EXTEND AND LOCK IN THE DOWN POSITION. A GEAR UP LANDING WAS EXECUTED ON RUNWAY 24 AT BOWMAN FIELD, LOUISVILLE, KY (KLOU). THE TWO OCCUPANTS, CERTIFICATED COMMERCIAL PILOT AND FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR WERE NOT INJURED DURING THE EVENT. UPON COMING TO A STOP, THE AIRCRAFT CANTERED AND TILTED TO THE LEFT AND THE LEFT ELEVATOR AND HORIZONTAL STABILIZER CONTACTED THE GROUND IN A DOWNWARD MANNER AND SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE DUE TO UPWARD BENDING TO THE HORIZONTAL STABILIZER SPAR AND WRINKLING AND CRUSHING TO THE ELEVATOR SKIN. THE LEFT WINGTIP DID CONTACT THE GROUND, HOWEVER, SUSTAINED NO DAMAGE. VISUAL METEOROLOGICAL CONDITIONS PREVAILED AND NO FLIGHT PLAN WAS FILED. AIRCRAFT MOVED TO OWNERS HANGAR AT KLOU. EXAMINATION REVEALED HYDRAULIC LINE FAILED IN NOSE GEAR WHEEL WELL AREA. AT THE REQUEST OF NTSB THE LINE WAS REMOVED AND FORWARDED TO NTSB FOR FURTHER EXAMINATION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ERA10LA005](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ERA10LA005), Oct 4, 2009: Cessna 210 (N9443T), Louisville, KY, substantial damage. Probable cause: A malfunction of the landing gear extension system due to a fractured hydraulic line. Contributing to the accident was the inadequate inspection and maintenance of the hydraulic line.

## Other reports on N9443T (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 19931223051029I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19931223051029I), Dec 23, 1993: Cessna 210 (N9443T), Louisville, KY, Minor damage. Unable to lower nose gear. Landed with nose gear retracted.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
