## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

PILOT TAXIED FOR TAKEOFF FROM NONVIANUK LAKE WITH 3 COMPANY EMPLOYEES AND THEIR GEAR (LAST FLIGHT OF THE SEASON). DURING TAKEOFF, AFTER COMING UP "ON-STEP", THE PILOT REALIZED THERE WAS NOT ENOUGH REMAINING WATER AVAILABLE FOR "LIFT-OFF". THE THROTTLE WAS "CLOSED" AND THE PASSENGERS WERE WARNED OF THE IMPENDING IMPACT. THE AIRCRAFT SLID INTO SHALLOW WATER, THEN INTO TUNDRA & MARSH, ABOUT 75 YARDS FROM THE LAKE SHORE. THE AIRCRAFT HAD NO MECHANICAL PROBLEMS, WAS WITHIN THE CORRECT LOADING FOR WEIGHT & BALANCE CONTROL. THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC10CA001](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC10CA001), Oct 5, 2009: Dehavilland DHC-2 (N490K), King Salmon, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's selection of an unsuitable takeoff area, and his decision to takeoff with a tailwind.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
